[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]For those who knew me in high school you will remember that I wore a lot of Hawaiian shirts my senior year. Why? Because I went to Hawaii the summer before. The trip almost ended before it began. My grandma fell and broke her hip at Honolulu Airport and spent her vacation in the Queen’s Medical Center where you could get a view of downtown Honolulu and that was about it. This was the beginning of the end for her as she was never able to fully recover and needed constant attention afterwards until she died in 2009.
Anyway, that forced my aunt to be the travel planner for me and my brother while she spent time with grandma in the hospital. We wound up doing day excursions to Kauai, Hawaii and Maui. The highlights were visiting Pearl Harbor and Hawaii Volcanoes.

A lot of Jurassic Park was filmed here so some of it looked kinda familiar. The big attraction is Waimea Canyon.
